Часть текста: понимание остроумия стало догмой: в частности, у немецких теоретиков эпохи барокко и Просвещения можно встретить почти дословное повторение дефиниции Цицерона. Так, Кристиан Вейзе (1642–1708) в сочинении «Галантный оратор» („Politischer Redner“, 1677) замечает: «Если необходимо определить, что такое остроумие, то состоит оно частью в игре слов, частью в оригинальных и остроумных предметах» [Weise: 1677, 62]. Филандер фон дер Линде (1674–1732) в поэтике «Разговор о немецкой поэзии» („Unterredung von der Deutschen Poesie“, 1727) также говорит о различии между «остроумием… в отдельных словах… и на деле» [Linde: 1727, 270]. Иоганн Христоф Готшед (1700–1766) в «Опыте критической поэтики» („Versuch einer kritischen Dichtkunst“, 1742) отмечает: «Помимо истинно остроумных образцов, в которых остроумие состоит в предметах, есть также много других, где оно заключается в простой игре слов» [Gottsched: 1742, 607].
